[dropcap]A[/dropcap]ccording to Mojang, Minecraft on Playstation being considered by the team, Wii U version unfortunately is not on the cards.
It is important to note that Mojang didn’t work on Minecraft for Xbox 360.
Microsoft licensed Minecraft and gave it to 4J Studios (Perfect Dark XBLA, Banjo Kazooie or Tooie XBLA, Overlord port to PS3, Oblivion port to PS3).
Minecraft on PS VITA and PS4 release with Cross-Platform Play?
With Mojang, one of the major reasons why they were able to do Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is because Microsoft put a dev team on it.
Their headcount simply doesn’t allow them to add new platforms like that.
In that respect, if Mojang wanted to pursue a version on a Playstation console, they’d expect cooperation from Sony in terms of getting a contract developer to do it.
We always thought Minecraft on the PlayStation Vita would be great, the mix of touch controls and buttons would make navigating menus easy, and being able to meet up with friends locally or online wherever whenever would have been great.
If we do get a PSN version, we hope that they give us a PS3 with PS Vita version and a separate PS4 version, the Xbox 360 version was limited due to memory that the PS3 and PS Vita would share, but there really is no excuse on the PS4 for something that is pretty much along the lines of the full PC version, but cross buy is always welcome.
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition was released on May 9th. So the Playstation versions will probably be among Sony’s E3 announcements.
Keep your fingers crossed, everyone.
